we're a small company and family business focused on mechanical engineering, software development, and rapid implementation of emerging technologies.  our main website is and we have a relatively new site for growers at

we started collecting our solar radiation data as a part of a large-scale corn growth modeling project. the solar radiation is a key factor in modeling growth accurately, however, there isn't a good national dataset. we read several university papers mentioning that modeling the solar radiation was the best they could do, simply because the data wasn't available. we also spoke to a professional climatologist, who believed there were only a couple hundred us stations with solar radiation. he was very surprised to learn that we had found several thousand. the problem with these stations is that the units and data formats are not consistent, so we have spent a lot of time writing software that will collect the data each week and rationalize them all into a single database with the same units.

modeling huge datasets
we have worked with massive, noisy datasets and extracted simple statistical models.  in one case, we completed the job where 2 larger companies had failed and given up.  our secret: artifical intelligence and modeling techniques can never replace hard work and common sense. in a simpler example, we helped create an excel spreadsheet to schedule a fortune 100 company's assembly line.
prototype development
we have developed a number of protoypes including: the first john deere gator, the tine-separator technology used in the majority of combine harvesters today (name is on the patent), and the business case and technology plan for a wireless network linking a fortune 100 company's vehicles to the internet. we enjoy creating fully functional prototypes of both mechanical and software systems.

unique data collection
each week we collect large amounts of data from dozens of different sources.  the data  consists primarily of solar radiation and crop yield information.  we use a variety of techniques from computer automation to a live person collecting the data and cleaning it.  the data is processed and quality controlled, then made available on our websites.  our datasets are unique in both their quality and quantity.
mechanical & software engineering
both of our principals hold advanced degrees in mechanical engineering, with about 30 years combined experience. we also have about 20 years combined experience developing custom software applications for phones, handhelds, pcs, websites, and data collection tools. at one time, it was estimated that our software was used to scout the majority of the cotton in the u.s.
